No signal, no contacts, no way to call my mother and tell her where I was. But the files remained, even the novel: 'Saintess of Hauntspire High'; and the manuscript, which I retitled: 'Villainess of Aetherion Academia.' I had read them both cover to cover during the month at Duskbane Estate, hunched under blankets, scrolling until my eyes burned. I knew the plot. I knew the characters. I knew the twenty VIP students in this year's freshman class, their alliances, their betrayals, their endings.

Elle sat at her table and stared at the laptop, “A romance novel, eh?” She heaved a sigh shaking her head, “What the point it was all cliche, he ate my ears complaining how bad it was.” She pouted sulkily. She opened the laptop regardless and placed her fingers on the keyboard, she closed her eyes and took a deep sigh, “Fine, let’s give it a go,” She nodded determinedly. With the start of the novel, her fingers moved in a flow, the words went in a flow, she spent her day and night in front of the laptop, 3 weeks later, her book was done, she wiped her tears as she stared at her completed manuscript.

It must've been sitting here for God knows how long. My eyes roll down the scribbles of letters, words and drown in them quickly. The words looked like they were handwritten with a quill. The cursive was beautiful. I skimmed my finger down the rough paper touching the dried ink that had been written down the table of contents. 1. The Full Moon........... page 1 2. My heart pounded the entire way. He looked up from his desk, glasses perched low on his nose. “Yes?” “Sir, I… uh… found something,” I stammered. “A manuscript. It’s in the unsolicited pile, but… it’s really good. I think it has potential.” His brows rose slightly. “You’ve been reading the slush pile?” “Yes, sir. Just the first few pages, to sort them properly.” He sighed but gestured for me to continue. I held out the pages. “It’s called ‘The Weight of Silence’. I think it could be something special.”

Something wasn't right, and I would be glad if someone could give me a lead. After she conveyed her message, she left, and then I tried to concentrate on the work on my desk. I had a lot to review, ranging from novels to articles, and documentaries. I worked fucking hard to be ridiculed. I picked up the first novel manuscript from the cart full of papers then I opened the first chapter. It was a werewolf contemporary novel, and it got me drowned for a while until Mr. Bernard barged in with a pile of files. I raised my head to see him, shutting the door with his feet.

For the first time, Cathedra had someone who didn't cringe every time she opened her mouth to speak. So this is what having a friend feels like, huh? Cathedra thought to herself. One lunch break, while waiting for Diane underneath the tree, Cathedra was scribbling a draft of her first novel in her notebook. The novel contained the scenes she saw in the storybook, back in her kindergarten days. Since that day at kindergarten, she didn't tell anyone what she saw in the storybooks anymore. The thought of seeing things that other people couldn't still terrified her but she tried hard not to think about it by avoiding any book she can see other than school books and textbooks.

But none of them interests me. I have already found the perfect manuscript. It is on my desk—the diary. The only problem is that it doesn’t have an end. The last few pages are either missing or it just ended abruptly. Ever since I’ve read it, all my mental energies have been diverted to its content. It’s nothing phenomenal, but the sheer circumstance around it is so powerful. What lies on my desk are a dead man’s words. Could a story be more perfect? There were some books that I had written before I started my own publishing house and they did well, but I don’t write much now.
