Chapter Nine : Office Politics Nova POV “Sir?” Did he just say what I think I heard? “I don’t repeat myself.” Usually, when a character says this in a novel, it ends with the male’s hand wrapped around the female’s throat like a choking necklace while she writhes beneath him. But this is an office space and not just any office space. The room is decked with cameras, and the walls are transparent glass. As much as I identify as a closeted freak, there are limits to the risks I’m willing to take, and any form of pleasure without proper protection might lead to regret.

Then David Nashville is going through the p*f file in his laptop, busy latching onto the keyboard. The private office within the suite is the central workspace of the company's top executive, David Nashville. It is spacious, well-appointed, and designed for both productivity and comfort. It may feature a large executive desk, ergonomic office chair, high-end technology equipment such as computers, monitors, and telecommunication systems, and ample storage for files and documents. I cross the cobblestone street and head intothe building. Once I get off the elevator on the second floor, I am hit with the overwhelming smell of fabric. That was by design. When planning this office space, I made sure that we had fabric store rooms just off the elevator bank on every floor. I wanted anyone who walked in here to know exactly what we do. I wipe a droplet of rain off my dusty rose trench coat, brush a wisp of my honey-blonde hair that has escaped my high ponytail off my face, and begin walking to the boardroom.

The office was in a building that had nothing to do with the warehouse or the apartment or any of the other locations associated with my operation. It was the kind of space that existed inside a structure that contained thirty other spaces, each occupied by something unremarkable, and the unremarkable neighbours produced the cover that the office required. We both walked out of my office and I locked the door behind me, handing them over to Amy as I made my way to the elevators. I was still not used to being on the top floor with all the other executives. My new office was so huge and spacious, with plush, elegant white furniture and magnificent floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the city and often had me blanking out from time to time.
