Novel Outlining Template Novels & Stories

AUTHOR’S NOTE: Nyahoo~! I apologized for the long break. It took time to finish writing outlines. I did finish one story whole outline and still currently working for two stories outlines. But I have enough to continue these three ongoing stories including this novel. My thinking is that I add an authors note a the end of 'book' 1 so to speak and re-write the synopsis to advise any new readers that it will be 2 books in one. Alternatively, the other idea I had was to just have a longer book, but I don't want the length to scare off new readers. Thanks in advance! :)

For a long second—however long “second” meant here—I just floated there with the pen in my hand and the blank in front of me. Old instinct kicked in. Plot. Outline. Control. The urge to start sketching individual arcs, to decide exactly who went where and what they learned and how they cried along the way. I gripped the pen tighter until the urge passed. No. That wasn’t what this was. I wasn’t here to puppeteer every soul that would ever move through whatever came next. I wasn’t drafting a master novel where everyone hit my favorite tropes on cue.

"Ahh! Yeah, I remember how's your novel going on? Are you planning to put it as an entry for this coming International Contest?" I took my laptop, open it and handed it to her. " Look, it's kind of plain right now. I don't have any inspiration at the moment." She took my laptop and read my outline and prologue. The genre of my novel is Drama and at the moment I can't feel too much drama and that is why I barely have something to write on. After reading my outline, she looked at me and smiles awkwardly while closing my laptop, I knew it. "Uhm, you can still work on it, right? I mean it's okay but it's a little bit too plain if you'd ask me."

She's such a kind and hardworking editor who always understands me. Throughout writing this novel, I learned a lot about writing techniques and honing my writing style. I've learnt to ask myself if this chapter is good or bad, or if this story provides different topics and knowledge to readers because I'm not just writing this for fun; rather, I want readers to feel the thrill and get knowledge from my novel at the same time. I even found myself not sticking to the outline I created for this book, which other writers I met told me that was completely normal.

he says. "It might be," she confirms. "The third book is not in a hurry." He nods. He understands the principle of the thing not being in a hurry. He has always understood it. It is one of the things the thirty pages included. She opens the fifteenth notebook to the new page and begins the structure of the third book. Not the content — the structure. The architecture that will hold the argument. The frame before the walls. The first life as the research. The third book, beginning. Not in a hurry. The best things never are.

“I wake early. Very early. Before the world becomes loud. That silence helps me think clearly.” She leaned in. “Routine?” “Very structured,” I said. “I start by rereading what I wrote the day before. I edit first, then continue. I write in blocks of time. Two hours of intense focus, then rest. Then repeat.” She scribbled something. “Do you plan everything before writing or discover the story as you go?” “A bit of both,” I admitted. “I outline major emotional turning points. But the characters… they surprise me. Sometimes they refuse to behave the way I planned.”
