Lena will need all the protein she can get today.” I smiled, “Which is why I have three rolls of summer sausage in the refrigerator for her to snack on.” She smiled, “Perfect move mom and Luna.” I laughed, “It wasn’t that long ago when I shifted for the first time.” She nodded, “That’s the good part about adopting a teenager when you are so young.” I nodded, “I know.”

Shane said, picking up the cat food from the corner. They placed the cat's bowl in front of her, filling her nose with the smell of fishy meat and gravy. It was half-eaten, most of the gravy portion licked away. Daily couldn't decide if this was better or worse than fresh cat food. Probably worse. She looked up at Drake with world-weary eyes. "No." He tutted. "Don't tell me this is the line? Really? That's disappointing." "No," she shook her head. "I'll do it."

But its hunger must have outweighed its fear, because it took another step forward, pouncing on the chunk of protein bar and devouring it quickly. "Here," Sloane said softly. She tossed another piece of food to the creature, this one a little closer. The kitten crept forward again, scarfing down the next morsel before looking up at her once more, almost expectantly. She smiled. "Okay, you can have more." She broke off another chunk of the bar and tossed it to her new friend.
