"Welcome to Italy, my love. Welcome home." Elena's knees gave out. She caught herself on the window sill, staring out at the Tuscan countryside. Italy. She was in Italy. Thousands of miles from New York. From her apartment. From her job. From Dante. From everything. "You brought me to Italy," she said numbly. "Where else would I bring my fiancée?" Rodrigo's hand settled on her waist. Possessive. Claiming. "This is your home now. Our home." "I can't... this isn't..." Words failed her. Her brain couldn't process this. Wouldn't process this.

She tried to tell herself it was the pressure, the endless crises, the betrayals, the names whispered in the dark corners of the Bratva’s empire, but deep down, she felt the frost settling between them. When the plane finally lifted off, the only sound was the low hum of the engines and the occasional clink of glass. Mikhail barely spoke during the flight, his focus locked on the files in front of him, flipping through reports of losses, shifting alliances, and men who no longer answered their calls. Donatella turned her gaze to the clouds. Maybe Italy will be a reset, she thought. ************ They landed in Sicily under a sun that burned gold over terracotta rooftops and vineyards. The De

** Ghosts of the Past** Tuscany, Italy – A Fragile Peace The morning air was crisp, carrying the scent of fresh earth and vineyards. The villa, nestled deep in the Tuscan hills, was quiet—almost too quiet. Isabella sat on the terrace, a steaming cup of espresso in her hands, staring out at the rolling hills. For the first time in years, there were no immediate threats, no enemies waiting in the shadows. And yet… She couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t over.

"God! Please help me!" She facepalmed herself and stared out of the window. She noticed that Italy follows a standard Mediterranean climate with a hot summer and pretty mild winds, nothing like New York. It gave a refreshing look over the city. Eva found Italy really beautiful. It was like she couldn't take her eyes off the beautiful country and its city. It took her a few hours before reaching the location Elena sent her. Getting out of the cab, her eyes widened watching the huge glass building. She wasn't expecting this.

The sun rose over Bruno Deluca’s mansion like it had nothing to apologize for. Its golden light spilled across the massive rooftop, soft and warm—an insult to the city of Costa Nosa, which was still bleeding from the night before. Smoke lingered faintly in the air, the scent of ash and burned metal carried on the breeze. Italy looked calm on the surface, but beneath that fragile quiet, fear crawled through every street. Inside the mansion, the atmosphere was anything but peaceful.

Cafes with outdoor seating already filling with morning customers. It’s beautiful. Different from New York. Older. More romantic. “We’ll check in. Rest for a few hours. Then we go to Brera this afternoon,” Roman says. I nod. Still looking out the window. Still not quite believing I’m here. In Italy. With Roman. About to search for a man who might have answers about my father. And terrified of what I might find. The car weaves through streets that get narrower. More crowded. Then we pull up in front of a grand hotel. Elegant facade. Doormen in uniforms.

I never hated the dark days, because I took advantage of them to do what I wanted. This day was dark and gloomier than ever. The back of my neck tingles with a bad feeling and if I remember the last time I felt that I get uneasy. The van speeds off with the others following. Landing in Italy was not easy. First of all, there is more security than trees; secondly, someone important was born here. We managed to get in after trying but not because we could, they let us in. "What is the most dangerous place in the world?" I asked.

No one can survive this life. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and decided. I didn't want to be Lucy anymore. I wanted to be anyone else. I needed to be someone else. I don't know why, but my mind settled on Italy. Not where my father was from, but my mother. San Gimignano, a quaint village in Tuscany known for its narrow streets and old world charm. I could go there. Live peacefully. My life was planned and I was ready. I opened my eyes, determined to finally escape it all, but unfortunately, fate had other plans.

she exclaimed, referring to her grandparents in Italy. Annizah smiled, her heart warming at Fiore’s enthusiasm. "They can’t wait to see you either, sweetheart." Vincenzo watched them, his expression thoughtful. "We’ll be safe in Italy. It’s where we belong." Annizah nodded in agreement. "Yes, it’s where we belong. And we’ll build a life there that’s safe and happy for Fiore." The journey to Italy was long but uneventful. Fiore slept most of the way, her head resting on Annizah’s lap. Vincenzo sat beside them, his eyes constantly scanning their surroundings, ever the vigilant protector.

The novel was well accepted by the Italians but not by foreigners though, such shame. ‘Wow, you know you didn’t have to spoil the ending for me. I have not finished reading it yet!’ The younger twin scolded, and Hadrian just chuckled. ‘Alright, I’m going on but to make the time short just tell me the author and the date the book was published.’ Josef added, challenging his brother. ‘Just go on ahead.’ Hadrian answered accepting the challenge. ‘Ivanhoe.’ Josef answered and earned a laugh from his brother and started telling him about the book. Just as Anton is about to enter Hadrian’s room carrying his medicine, he stopped by the door when he heard Hadrian’s laugh and peeked.
