From here, the Human Quarters sprawled like a wound—a patchwork of rust, gray, and ash scarred by years of neglect. The glow of the sunset did nothing to soften its harshness.

And maybe it did. --- One evening, after a particularly grueling day, I found myself wandering outside the base. The air was cool, and the sky was painted in shades of purple and orange as the sun dipped below the horizon. It was one of those rare moments of quiet, when the world seemed to hold its breath, waiting for the next disaster to strike. I didn’t expect to find Ethan out there, leaning against the edge of one of the barricades, staring out into the distance.
