Ella murmurs, her eyes lighting up, “Does that mean you’re going to get to see some trees at last?” Chuckling, I turn my phone towards the window, so she can see the rolling salt flats flying by in the distance. “No, unfortunately they chose their name to honor the ancestral lands they left before coming to the hidden territories. I’m afraid that the only trees here are the ones planted in Gabriel’s gardens.” Ella’s face falls, and her lips form an adorable pout, just begging to be kissed. “I don’t know how they can stand it.” “My poor little forest wolf.” I purr in sympathy, “our dream forest isn’t enough, is it?”

The air is filled with the sweet scent of honeysuckle, mingling with the earthy aroma of the forest. The Birds swoop amongst the branches above my hair, weaving their songs in a delicate harmony that seems to guide my steps. Each stride feels purposeful, as if an unseen force is gently pulling me forwards. I feel that something important is hidden just out of my line of sight, if I can just keep going…

VIOLETA My hands were still shaking. Even after walking away from the tents. Even after leaving the soldiers behind. Even after leaving Damien and Ariana standing there. I couldn’t breathe properly. My chest was too tight. My legs felt weak, like they could give out at any time. I walked deeper into the trees, past the last of the warrior guards and into a quiet part of the Oak border. There were big trees here, their thick branches stretching up into the cloudy sky. Everything smelled like dirt and ash. Like something had died and left its pain behind.

She sat up, slowly, wincing at the pain in her body, and looked around. They were in a forest. Not the meadow of the realm, not the valley of the between-place, but a real forest, with real trees and real dirt and real birdsong that filtered through the canopy in a way that seemed almost aggressively mundane, almost defiantly ordinary. The trees were pine and oak and birch, the kinds of trees she had known in her childhood, the kinds of trees that had surrounded her grandmother's house in the mountains, the kinds of trees that had never asked anything of her except to exist in their presence.

“But forgetting is heavier. Because then you’re alone. And no one is meant to be alone with their bleeding.” Nova lived to 300. She planted 200 petals in her life. Each one grew differently. Like wolves. One tree sang when you bled on it. Low, humming notes. One tree cried sap that tasted like the first rain after drought. One tree grew leaves you could look through and see a memory that wasn’t yours. One tree grew stones in its roots, and each stone had a story cut into it. Wolves called her *The Lighter*.

The structures were so beautiful, the fresh green of the trees, refreshing and filling me with an odd feeling of happiness. My wandering eyes came to a halt as I realized what I was looking at. A. Bookstore. And it looked like it was straight out of my dreams. The store had glass doors and windows that allowed me see little inside. I could tell people were milling around, no doubt surfing for books they wanted to buy. Two trees were positioned on either sides of the store, with benches resting on them. The place looked so peaceful, like a little book heaven, and I found myself wanting to be in there.

I never once thought that I can see such a scenery as this. I mean… the trees look similarly to the one we had in the erhendem. Although our wolvendom consist of mainly erhelena trees, I have seen different trees in the textbooks I have read on the library before. Truly, I never once thought that I would see other trees like the one we had inside. That tree is misteriously placed inside a very parge pot that is made up of blue diamond with gold lining.

Author's POV It was the last break for that day. They all went out, Kehna was the last person to get out of the classroom. When she finally got out everyone was already in their cliques and she was all alone, till a lady approached her. She looked very pretty and young. "Hey! Aren't you the new student?" "Yes, I am". "Kehna right?" She nodded "Hi Kehna, I'm Alexandria". She smiled in response, not knowing what to do or say. "You don't talk too much, do you?" She thought for a moment, was she supposed to tell her, the main reason why?

The air smelled like traces of the storm from the night before. Eric and I stood near a tree while Nova went to find something to draw. Eric told her to be sure to capture the rain on any plants she drew if she could. I looked up towards the tops of the trees, breathing in the clear air. I would never walk into that forest and not be amazed by the majesty of it. Maybe it was just a forest outside of a little town in a state in a country in a continent, and maybe it wasn't famous like the Redwood Forest or the A****n.
