In early January, the first snowfall of the year came again soft, steady, and endless. Emma stood at the window, watching it cover the paths and rooftops. Jake joined her with a fresh cup of coffee. “What now?” he asked. Emma looked out at the horizon. “Now, we dream bigger.” They began planning their spring programming. A weekend for mothers and daughters. A grief workshop. A writing retreat for survivors.

The weeks seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye for Bella. Her summer vacation was a blend of productive solitude and joyful reunions with Lily. She spent long hours each day writing diligently on her novels, pouring her creativity and passion into every word. Whenever she wasn't typing away on her laptop, Bella met up with Lily to discuss their exciting plans for university. I teased, helping her organize some stuff. "I wanted to bring everything, you know? But I think this is a good start," she responded, laughing while pulling some books from her bag. We sat on my bed, surrounded by snacks and laughter, talking about what we expected from college. "I want to join a writing club," I said, daydreaming about writing stories and maybe even publishing them. "And I want to try everything. Dance, theater, maybe even music," Summer said, her voice full of enthusiasm. "Imagine us together, exploring all of this!"

Chastity responded. “Does that mean there will be less visits?” Molly asked with a pout. “I will be able to come home some weekends, but Lexi, and I won’t get another week long break until Independence day. Unfortunately. Some colleges do a week or two in spring, then a few months in the summer. This program doesn’t allow that as it’s such an intense program.” Chastity explained. “OH. That’s kind of sad, but we’ll make it work. It’s only for another year, right?”

It's not a life I can even imagine. After a shower in my own bathroom, I am refreshed and ready to face the week ahead. I have a summer reading group starting tomorrow at the local library. Summer reading group is one of the two main projects I take on each year. The other is the fall reading festival. Both are fun, but neither have resulted in attendance that justifies the time I spend on them so my district wont support the projects and I have to do them on my own time. Last summer we had four kids total and the fall was little better with six kids attending. I’m not sure what else I could do to increase attendance. I'm already offering free snacks and books. Oh, well, I’m not sure
