Romans & histoires Nu: Carnival

I can see how broken he is inside, never having to be with the woman he loves and his baby taken away from him. I wish I could help him—find her. Just then we hear heavy beats of drums. “What's that sound?” Jaxon suddenly asks. He's been petting Snowie and just listening to me and Noah. “Oh, there's a carnival happening down the street. They do it every weekend since the holidays started.” Noah explains. Carnival? I love Carnivals! “Can we go?” I ask, eyes wide with hope. He chuckles and coughs. “Sure. I'm too old for all of that so I'll just stay here and watch cave divers.” He tells me and Jaxon.

“I’d understand if you need more time to yourself.” “You think I don’t date because of you?” he asked, voice cold. He turned from me. “It has nothing to do with you.” I hurt all over, from his words and my own. After leaving Asher’s, I didn’t wanted to be alone, so I called Nicole to hang out. Now we were at the student union, a few open books between us. We both had big exams coming up. “I’m telling you, Cynthia. You have to go to this carnival they are going to have at the fairgrounds,” Nicole said. “It only comes to town once a year.”

Pregnant. That’s what you should be for Halloween. – Michaela to Molly Halloween was a break from training. And just about everything else. A fall carnival had been set up on the empty land across from the compound. It had been started back in the nineties and had grown since then. Now they even had a carnival with rides that would come out, including the petting zoo, clowns and games. Price of admission? One new unwrapped toy or two nonperishable food items.

Nolan asked, his curiosity getting the better of him “Mother said that the market is no place for me, and I should be more worried about how to give a proper courtesy than the busy streets of the dirty market” For a second Nolan found it quite sad that the three of them had such big burdens and responsibilities on their shoulders when they were so little. “You should come here during the time of the carnival, the streets light up like the stars came down to play And there are so many candies, and so much to eat” He said as his eyes lit up, his expression brightened a few shades…it was magical

He always prepared for the worst. Damien studied the files quietly. Elena watched his face, trying to read what he was thinking. Seeing his father’s empire laid out like a list of targets had to feel strange. After a while, Damien spoke. He said they should start with Vincent’s casino because it brought in the most money and employed the most people. If they took it down, it would hurt Vincent badly and prove to everyone that the Cross family was not untouchable.

Every time our eyes met, my heart fluttered as if it wanted to escape my chest. When we finally arrived, the carnival lights were dazzling—twinkling reds, blues, and golds blinked in the dusk, mixing with the smell of popcorn and caramel. It was loud, bright, and full of life. Frank parked, and we joined the steady flow of laughter and chatter moving through the entrance. We tried almost every game in sight—ring toss, darts, and even that ridiculous hammer game where you smack the pad as hard as you can to ring the bell. Of course, Frank hit it on his first try.

It held sandwiches, juice boxes and a packet of chips the twins immediately fought over despite there being two packets. I had just reached across the bed to steal Thane's chips when music drifted through the open window. I paused, Rissa and Thane did too, then a moment later, a man's voice boomed through a loudspeaker somewhere nearby. “Come one, come all! The annual summer carnival is open tonight! Rides, games, food, music, and fireworks!” “Mama.” Rissa's head snapped toward the window and I already knew that tone. “No.” She hadn't even asked yet, but I knew what my answer was going to be.

Like every year, the carnival was being celebrated in Saint Auburnoe square. The celebrations started on a Tuesday of February, before the lent fast, and the weather was still very cold. Groups of people were dressed up in bright coloured costumes and big hats with feathers. There were many mask balls going on and some sort of jazz music was being played. The streets of the town were decorated with fairy lights and candles, giving it a warm appearance. There were lots of food and games booth set up and people were swamping over the place to buy the tickets.

I decided not to push the issue, though, and we all got into the car, ready for a night of fun and adventure. As we entered the carnival grounds, I was immediately struck by the noise and chaos around me. Bright lights, blaring music, and crowds of people filled the air with a palpable energy. I watched as Diego's eyes light up with excitement, eager to explore and enjoy everything the carnival had to offer.

Yeah, I was a scaredy-cat. “Did I? Shoot sorry.” She chuckled. “Tell me, who are you talking about?” I asked as my curiosity fueled up. “I’m talking about The Carnival.” She said. “Carnival? What is that?” “A gang. Horrifying they are. They’ve been around here and ruled some places in Bhutan, Pakistan, Germany, and China. Their business are all around the world for ages but they live mainly here. These are some real confidential topics for you to know. Everybody fears them yet no one utters their name. They rule here. Though there is peace and they keep a safe barrier between civilians and them.” She sighed.
