They made a quick stop right past the nurses’ station, at the room where Liam and Walt were hating their hospital dinner, while Tom ate their jellies like a child. “I can wash here,” said Jim. “Okay, I’ll bring your clothes,” Silvia replied. “And some real food, please,” begged Walt. “Yeah, I’m starving,” said Jim. “Be good boys and I’ll see what I can do,” Silvia said. She’d noticed the way a young nurse had looked at Jim when they’d walked by, so on her way to Deborah’s room, she decided to try her luck. Bingo. The girl was a fan of the band and worked the night shift. It took her about ten seconds to accept to changing Jim’s bandages in the musicians’ room.

For twenty years, nobody had ever seen through their game before. Yet, this rookie nurse did in less than fifteen minutes. “That’s impossible,” Chris whispered, stripping away the fake Charles act as he stared at her like she just grew two heads. Spirit slid off her chair, grabbing her phone from the dining table. She looked down at the three stunned brothers, her eyes flashing proudly like a genius. “I’m your nurse, boys,” Spirit grinned, giving them a triumphant wink as she turned toward the door.

I can't believe he picked a piece of ass over his own brother. My sheets fall out of the way, and I run my palm along my bandages. More like four of Nolan's bullets. The doc said whoever shot me had terrible aim, but I've been to the shooting range with him. He didn't miss my vital organs by accident. There's a quick rap of knuckles on my half-open door, and a woman strolls in dressed in light-blue scrubs. I'm guessing she's some kind of nurse, but it's the first time I've seen her. She's little and blond and walks with a brisk purpose that's bringing part of my body back to life.

I tried to push past the pain, to get up, but the nurse caught my hand before I could move. “Miss Perkins… please, don’t try to move. You’re not ready to leave yet,” she said, holding me firmly. Her voice stayed calm, annoyingly so. I shot her a look that screamed, don’t test me right now. She then, let me go slowly. “Where’s my brother?” I was already breathing too fast, and damn, it felt like my heart might explode. The nurse gave me a soft, almost teasing smile... perhaps she figured it was the fastest way to put me at ease. And just like a charm, it was actually working.

I grabbed a nurse who was about to enter. "What happened Miss? My brother, okay?" I asked as a nurse was about to enter the OR. "Your brother is in danger right now Sir, sorry we have to go," a nurse said hurriedly and entered the OR. I feel like I'm weak, I can't lose Brother, it can't be. After half an hour, the doctors and nurses came out. So I stood up from sitting and so did Butler Daxton who was behind me. "Where's the relatives of the patient Mr. Niven Madrigal?" the doctor asked. I immediately approached him.

the nurse explained. " Please…" the nurse requested. " Okay…" I replied in a low voice looking at Rishab. The nurse smiled at me and said, " I will come taking a medical kit for bandaging the injury. Meanwhile please remove his shirt…" the nurse informed and walked out of the room to bring the necessary stuff.

I whined, pushing her away from me but she quickly tightened her grip. Dammit! The nurse stood back surveying whether or not there was something she missed before pulling out a cream and band aids. The more I stared at her kit as she worked in deafening silence the more I concluded, if I stayed any longer in this godforsaken place, I'd die. I'd die just like my sister and just like the bitch said, no one would care. Who would know I was here? Or gone? No one!

And since most of us were boys with shady pasts he'd picked from the streets, we couldn't be treated in a regular hospital. I didn't try talking him out of bringing me here though. Elias was really good at patching me up but Vincent knew I needed more than that. I needed to heal and rest away from the rest of the world. The nurse who received me took one look at the bandages and tutted disapprovingly at Elias. “Your boy is ruining my rep, Luca." He whispered to me through gritted teeth. I gave him a fond pat on the shoulder. “You don't need to stay." The nurse said to him as she carefully unwrapped the bandage.

I squeeze my eyes shut, knowing I've been denied of pleasure. I hate nurses. The nurse clears his throat, clearly fighting a smile. “I see you’re doing better, Mr. Briggs. Looks like we finally found your missing dosage,” he says, glancing knowingly at Hailey. She turns scarlet. The nurse checks the monitors and equipment while my eyes stay on Hailey. She rubs my hand against her cheek, kissing it softly. Smiling. I’ll go back to the military with a fractured bone or bones. And I may never earn my brother’s trust again.

She smiled and signaled for me to come closer with her hands which had a bandage and drip attached to it. I moved slowly feeling awkward , I’m looking dirty and barefooted. “Thank you for saving me Nina” she said with a huge smile and I nodded back with a small tight smile. “I must commend your efforts in arresting the bleeding and making her stable …are you a health personnel if I may ask ?” Asked the elderly doctor that told us to go out earlier on. “Thank you , I’m glad I was able to be of help…I’m a nurse assistant and hope to be a nurse someday ” I said blushing at the way everyone was looking and paying attention to me with respect written on their faces.
