He holds his shoulder, crying on the ground while the battle continues.

Within seconds the Venom wolves and the invaders began to fight. “What do we do,” Olivia asked, in a panic.

Creatures they conjured clawed at our defenses—half-shadows, half-beasts. I fought beside the warriors, blade in one hand, magic in the other. Fire danced from my palms as if I had wielded it since birth. Lily stayed close, chanting spells to repel curses. Thane led the vanguard, silver swords clashing with creatures from nightmares.
