Bound moon
I called out, my voice ringing across the delta.
My sister stepped forward, her face pale.
"You’re going to be my vanguard," I said. "You wanted to run? Now you’re going to fight for the home you abandoned."
I looked at Lucian. The bond was back, but it wasn't the same. The leash had switched hands.
"Let’s go," I said, stepping past him toward the trail. "We have a kingdom to reclaim."
As we walked away from the bluff, the Unbound fell in behind us, a silent, lethal tide of shadows. I didn't look back at the sea. I looked toward the mountains, toward Blackthorn, and toward the wreckage of the life I used to think was mine.
