Reports came in rapid succession like drumbeats: a thousand black wizards, moving from the northern valley in ritual formation. “Their numbers exceed the highest estimates,” Beta Casren whispered, his eyes fixed on the pulsating black mist. “A thousand.”

Himalayan time Deep beneath the hidden peaks, in the great obsidian hall of the First Circle, the silence is older than language. Then it breaks. A single pillar of black-glass flame erupts from the floor, carving the forbidden sigil of the Severed Circle into the air in letters of frozen blood. The crest burns for exactly seven heartbeats before collapsing into ash that refuses to fall. Every ward in Shambhala screams at once. The First Wizard (name unpronounceable in any mortal tongue, title simply “One”) rises from the lotus throne.

His two swords had hit the necks of the Shadows then Airoh quickly burned their dead bodies to ash.

The villagers’ chants began, low and rhythmic, echoing through the stone walls. Sarah’s knees trembled. The spiral on her palm pulsed like a heartbeat. Then a sharp crack sounded from the ceiling, dust rained down, the tower shook. John looked up, alarmed. “What now?” From the shadows, a deep growl emerged something was coming something ancient. The spiral glowed brighter the blood warden’s smile faded. Sarah’s voice broke through the chants. “I will not be your queen.” The tower rumbled again. And then, the ground split beneath their feet.

“The sorcerer is said to have lived here for centuries. If anybody can help, it's him.” Clara was the first to approach the tower, her hand resting on the handle of her sword. Though the abyss was gone, her intuition told her not to let down her guard. Marcus followed closely from behind, his eyes filtering the forest around them, as though anticipating something to rise from the shadows. The door to the tower squeaked open as they neared, a low, crushing sound that sent a chill down their spines. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of age and magic. Dust bits moved within the faint light that gushed through cracks within the stone dividers.
