He never did. On the third Friday, after drills, he handed me a leather-bound journal. The cover was plain but sturdy, the edges worn. A pencil was tucked inside. “What’s this?” I asked, turning it over. “A training log.” I raised a brow. “A… what?” “You write down what your body did for you. Not how you felt, not what you think. Just the facts. What changed, what improved, what failed.” I flipped through the blank pages, panic prickling under my skin.

Flashback Continues Daisy’s P.O.V. I wake up early in the morning. Today is Sunday. No office, no work. I love Sundays. After taking a quick shower, I come to the balcony to get some fresh air and share my thoughts with my diary. The cool morning breeze brushes against my skin as I sit on the lounger, the diary open in front of me. It’s my habit to pour out my thoughts and feelings onto its pages, a way to deal with my messed-up thoughts.

She turned to stare at the couple ahead one last time, returning her pen and diary into her handbag. "Okay." Oscar said, ignorant of what was troubling her. Oscar continued taking shots around the amusement park, capturing different rides and colorful attractions. Petra adjusted her handbag before turning her attention toward another section nearby. She walked slowly, studying the structures while Oscar followed behind with his camera. Every few steps, she stopped briefly and wrote another observation inside her diary. She examined the restaurants, the children's rides, the larger attractions, and surrounding entertainment areas.

No sooner had he spoken than the quiet sky erupted in a cascade of dazzling fireworks. One after another, they painted the night with a tapestry of light, each burst more breathtaking than the last. I was so captivated by the display that I could not even blink, afraid to miss a single moment. What girl could resist the charm of fireworks? Certainly not me. Overwhelmed with joy, I bounced off Luis's lap. "Wow... It's so gorgeous, so stunning!" Luis, with his arms still around me, agreed. "It really is beautiful..."

But deep inside, I promised myself to be cautious, to keep on documenting every step, and to listen to my instincts. Days passed, and I just kept observing in private. There were days when Austin was totally normal, and there were days when I caught sneaky glances that left me wondering if he was keeping anything from me or not. I kept a small diary in my safe app, noting times, dates, and activities in three words or less.

My diary helped me grow personally and captured events that passed by instantly. I desiderated to pen down everything that day. I wanted my diary to have all the precious moments inked in that. That day I experienced things that I could not share with anybody. As I had no one with whom I could do so. I wanted to write whatever I felt like, freely and without outside judgment or criticism.

"How could you possibly know all this?" Norman tilted his head, that unsettling smile still playing on his lips. "You think you're the only one with eyes and ears in this city? Please." He pulled a worn leather journal from his jacket, flipped it open. Inside, pages and pages of cramped handwriting. Dates. Locations. Names. "I've found a hobby recently. Journaling. I've been documenting everything related to you. Every time Damon lets his guard down. Every secret meeting, every whispered threat, every crack in the armor."

Ruby pushing a trolley through the supermarket. The closer I looked, the worse it became. There were copies of bank statements. Parking tickets. Business cards. Telephone bills. Soccer newsletters. Receipts. Ticket stubs. Maps. Registration forms. A library card. Our lives pinned to walls like insects in a collector’s cabinet. On the bedside table sat a stack of ring-bound notebooks. I picked up the top one and opened it. Every page was filled with neat handwriting. Precise. Controlled. The left margin listed times and dates. Beside them were records of my movements—locations, meetings, methods of travel, duration, observations.

Spent on the closet floor. The trip ended. But the watching continued at home. Closet in bedroom. Strangers or friends. Always me watching.

Mara smiled. "We noticed." He hurried to the window. His mouth fell open. "The flag is frosted." There was genuine awe in his voice. "It is," Damien agreed. Lucas nodded seriously. "I have to record this." Without another word he climbed onto a chair, opened his weather notebook, and began writing furiously, completely absorbed in documenting what was obviously a historic event. Mara leaned against the counter, coffee warming her hands. She watched her son scribbling observations with complete concentration.
