He looks toward the dark containers. He knows I am here. My breath hitches. I freeze against the cold metal. “Let them come,” Penelope says. She turns her back to him. She looks straight toward my hiding spot. “They have nothing left to give me,” she says. The Lycan King smiles. His teeth are too sharp. “And the boy?” the king asks. “The husband?” Penelope takes a step toward my container. Her boots click against the wet wood of the dock. She stops five feet away from me. Only the metal corner separates us.

Penelope's POV: “You can just get her anything. It doesn't matter what it is. Penelope is a simple woman. She'll accept a ring made of bread tie.” My sister, Calypso, is laughing. She's in bed, tangled with a man, her hair and makeup messy in the way that can only be from sex.

I have to come up with a plan! “ You may want me to put you out of your misery whelp, but I’m not done torturing you yet! These people want a show and I’m here to give them just that!” Odysseus roared as those in attendance chanted for more of Kronos’s blood to be spilled. Once Kronos managed to get to his feet, Odysseus rushed him. However, he was sent backward by a sudden punch to the jaw from Kronos. Calypso sat upright as she saw white lightning covering Kronos, taking the shape of standard steel armor.

Penelope reached out and stroked a curl, letting her fingers glide gently across it. A victorious smile stretched across her face, slow and satisfied. Hers at last. Aiden was hers at last. And Anna would never know. “Oh Anna, you are such a loser,” Penelope cooed softly, twirling a strand of her own hair around her finger. Her voice was sweet like honey, but the venom hid underneath like a serpent coiled and ready to strike. “I won your husband over. Now I have your son too.”

I continued with my explanation. “When I came to it, I was tied up in some small room; I had no idea where I was. I met Penelope for the first time. I'm not going to lie; she was quite beautiful. She is a beautiful woman that I knew. And beside her at the time was someone I presumed was her subordinate; he was a buff man, and he kept on glaring at me. Penelope told me about her plots. She threatened me, saying she had eyes everywhere and that there was no one I could run to. She told me about her life and the reason why she is who she is, which I went on to explain to Adrian. He silently listened.

He was going to come back and clear every misunderstanding. The next time he met her, he succeeded, he and the mysterious human became like two peas in a pod. They became very close, and would sit beside each every evening in the garden. No names or identity was exchanged. Penelope was worried about the demand her pack had placed on her shoulder. But she'd do anything to save her father, even if it meant betraying her new friend. She made him promise to meet her at the same spot the following day. Axel, who was clueless, agreed. They were just two people who loved each other's company. Their love story would have been a happily ever after. But her betrayal made it impossible.

“There’s something in those backups, Isolde. Something not even Dorian knows is there.” The train to Montauk was nearly empty. Ocean fog pressed against the windows like hands desperate to see in. Isolde sat facing Penelope, her fingers clutched around the metal bar of her seat. “You should’ve told me earlier,” she said. Penelope stared straight ahead. “I wasn’t sure I believed it until he said it himself.” They passed rows of slumbering towns and coastline houses forgotten by money. The tension between them was electric but unspoken. Dorian had been left in the dark for now. He would never have let them leave without backup. Or permission.

Penelope whined while hugging Arai. "Did you really get laid last night? Tell me you didn't..." Penelope blinked her brown eyes at her curvy best friend. "No... Actually, I did have one with him..." Arai blushed. Penelope grimaced. "You're kidding!" she whimpered. Arai shook her head. "We... just finished this morning." Hearing her friend's honest answers, Penelope paled. Maybe they did have sex. They, Arai with Zaha, and Penelope with Heinrich.

She watched him, wondering what the hell he was doing. After some minutes he stood up and looked at what he had done, she looked down at it too, it wasn't perfect but was much better than how it initially was on her. Then he faced the top, working on making it more better and comfortable. Unintentionally his hand brushed her breast, and she gasped in shock. What was he doing? But his face was still expressionless like nothing happened, either he didn't notice or he pretended not to. She swallowed hard, trying to assure herself that nothing happened, she was a human, and he was a Lycan, whatever that meant. She couldn't help but study his face, he looked human, how was he a Lycan?

Men abandoned their wooden sticks of fire and obeyed Quinlan's command to find Penelope. But it was already too late. Penelope's head resurfaced the sea through an audible gasp and Quinlan was the first person to see her. Oh, she'd be the death of him. Quinlan sighed in relief and released the first rope, which she caught with her right hand. He helped Penelope up through the rope and Penelope coughed a little before standing at her full height to face him. With her hair and black dress soaked from the sea and plastered to her body.
