It was the way that things had always been. When my father had joined the council of elders for meetings, I had seen the same brutality that we had grown up with. Just different roles. Those offspring hadn’t lost their parents. Instead, the elder had pitted his offspring against one another. Creating a monster that I’d heard had been slain. I didn’t know if I believed it yet. I wanted to. I didn’t want to have my offspring grow up the way that we had. The way that Vega and her siblings had.

My mother-in-law says wistfully. “That's true, everything was so much simpler, the children were small and nice and obeyed us, now they're all grown up having children and I can't believe I'm going to be a grandmother…” Mom says looking at me and Jennifer. “I can't believe it either, Oliver is still such a little boy, he's that big, but he's practically a baby... the good thing is that now with the children arriving we're going to relive everything we've been through, school parties, birthdays, have you thought about it? when the children get toothless...” My mother-in-law says it all stupidly.

Kate and Sierra said they finally felt like their family was complete now. Osiris and Lily loved having all their grandkids over. They now have eight grandchildren in total. Sonny replied, “The gap is pretty huge. The oldest is more than twenty years older than the youngest. “My uncle has eight brothers, and all of them have children. Heath has a lot of younger cousins.” Kaden said enviously, “Talk about a big family. I’m green with envy since our family is small.” Sonny grinned and looked at Everly before saying, “When Ms. Flemming settles down, she can have children and help the family grow.” Everly burst into laughter. “Mr. Brown, it’ll be your fault if Grandpa nags me to get married.”

Just then, someone else knocked on the study's door. “Come in.” Oliver called absentmindedly. The head of a servant girl popped in. “There are elders outside, wanting to see the Alpha.” “Elders? What elders?” Alaric asked. “The William elders, sir.” Alaric and Oliver gave each other a confused look. Since Oliver became the black sheep of the family, the elders have disassociated themselves with not just Oliver, but also Alaric. This treatment was even extended to all of Oliver's sons. Unfortunately for the boys, their mates were from their family. Therefore, when they met their mates, they were rejected. This only made them blame Megan the most for their predicament.

Pak Satria tried to counter what Pak Bagas had said earlier. "But capital and strategy, all according to your idea, Satria." "Ah you're always humble, a car without an engine is useless, so stop being low, never mind ...!" Pak Satria approached Pak Bagas who stood up to greet him. The odds were against her, but she managed,” the woman in front of me shares with me. “What the hell is your name?” I ask as pain starts to burn in my stomach. “The oldest of the three – Lara is what you can call me, Kate,” she says before continuing, “Or you can call me big sister; whichever you are most comfortable with,” she finishes with a laugh.

Morgan gave me another quick glance, but it was enough to confirm he knew what his dad was talking about. “What? That you're siblings? That shouldn't be too surprising due to the resemblance," Elder Soliz said lightly. It was my turn to glance at Morgan. “What fucking resemblance?” “You're both killers with the potential to do great things but end up as disappointments because you can't put your emotions to the side.” He sighed and glanced upwards. “My only two children, failures.” “I am not your child," I snapped. He looked at me. “I believe you know that can be confirmed easily enough," he said.

“Fuck you” We finish our breakfast in companionable silence, and I monitor my siblings as they place their dishes in the dishwasher. They’re only 10, 8, and, 5, so they can’t be trusted with it. Yes, I mentioned three siblings, plus Alice. I am the oldest of five. Father and Mom had me and Alice together, then Father met his fated mate, Daphne, and they had Sophie, Dorian, and Darcy. I have no idea why my dad felt the need to spread his genes so much – “When we find our mate, you will,” Hendrix says in a sing-songy voice.
