Ominous Drawing Novels & Stories

Jo accepted the paper gently, unfolding it with careful fingers. At first glance, it looked like a simple child’s drawing: messy lines, smudged colors. But the longer Jo stared, the colder her blood ran. It was a drawing of a massive wolf, dark and powerful, kneeling under a broken moon. Its silver eyes were hollow and sad, its paws chained to the ground by thick black tendrils. Beside it, a man, tall, crowned, broken, stood slumped over, clutching his chest as blood spilled from his side.

I reminded him. “Geeze. Sorry.” He shrugged and went back to his own work, but his comment made me second guess my own. I looked at it carefully. He was right. It could’ve been any girl with long hair in a cape. I looked at his drawing and wasn’t surprised at all to see that he’d drawn himself shirtless, standing with his arms up, his arms bulging with muscle, his face lifted to the sky in a menacing howl. Even though he was a human in the drawing, his inner wolf was clear. So was the darkness that had overtaken him.

Professor Mason's heavy sigh was like a massive boulder dropped into a calm pond, instantly drawing the attention of the surrounding students. When they got a clear look at the piece on my easel, sharp gasps echoed throughout the room. Their young faces quickly twisted with sheer disbelief and heavy, undeniable disgust.
