The kind that didn’t come from lack of rest, but from too much happening all at once. Two days. The thought landed again, just as unreal as it had been the first time. Two days he had kept me. I turned my head slightly, wincing at the stiffness in my neck. The room looked ordinary enough now. Quiet. Almost safe. But my body didn’t believe it. My body still remembered the tension in every conversation, the way my eyes tracked my movements, the strange, unsettling calm in his voice when Aiden spoke about things that should have sounded insane.

It wasn’t listed in any index. No title. No author. Just a cover etched with a symbol that made my wolf cower. A circle of jagged teeth. --- Ronan ignited a candle, the glow flickering warmly in the shadowed room. Truly,just like Stephanie had said,her life isn't the same after yesterday. Everything just seemed like she was in a deep mess. Even escaping into her sleep was not enough place to hide. Walking into that small room with her so close was almost as suffocating as the day I first laid eyes on her in that cemetery. I tried my hardest to keep my cool. I really did. I set my stuff down on the empty bed, wondering how the hell I'd be getting through this night. But I didn't last for more than a few awkward quiet moments before I excused myself outside to take smoke.

A few seconds later, light, feathered kisses brushed against my cheek, and despite my exhaustion, a small smile tugged at the corners of my lips. “Stop,” I murmured, keeping my eyes squeezed shut. “It’s morning, Novel. It’s time to go,” Alexei whispered against my ear. My eyes flew open instantly.
