^Lyra^ The smell of cheap dish soap isn't just on my clothes. Including the number of shifts I've taken so far. Here I am reminded that no matter how many times I wash my hands clean, I am what the world sees. That girl behind a counter with a dirty apron and a fake smile. I leaned my head against the glass of the subway window, watching the Chicago skyline go by. I stared at my own reflection. There was no amount of concealer to hide the shadows around those eyes and I had my hair pulled back in a bun so tight it was hurting me.

“Show me.” They sat on the couch together. Kai opened the link and the screen filled with the campaign images. There he was larger than life. Shirtless on a Milan rooftop at golden hour, the phoenix tattoo glowing across his chest, jeans riding low on his hips, eyes staring straight into the camera like he was daring someone to look away. Damien stared at the screen without saying anything for a long moment. “Fuck,” he finally breathed. Kai glanced at him. “Too much?” Damien shook his head slowly, eyes still glued to the images. “No. It’s… you look incredible. But seeing you like that everywhere…” He swallowed hard. “It’s doing things to me.”

"He's all used-up, and you're still acting like he's a treasure? You must be really desperate! What's the difference between that incubus and a dog in heat? Someone like you should just find an honest guy willing to take you in!" Tracy Rowe was standing outside the county office with Jamie Stephenson, arguing with me at the top of her lungs. Meanwhile, Lionel Andrus, the man with an incubus bloodline, was waiting quietly to the side, holding our paperwork.

"I’ve got a better plan this time—one that guarantees his death. We’ll use his wife and sons as bait." "That won’t work," interrupted a new voice from beside them. Both Kyle and Taron turned, startled to see Lucas Middleton. He wore a baseball cap pulled low over his face and dark sunglasses as a disguise. "Lucas Middleton?" Kyle’s jaw dropped. "I’m a big fan of yours."

After what feels like long minutes which probably is only seconds they finally walk pass still laughing and speaking loudly. He looks like the happiest man on earth with not a care in the world and here I am sitting behind a dumpster unable to get my breathing under control, frozen in fear at the mere sight of him. Just before they dissapear behind the large building I catch a glimpse of his smirk. That smirk. That smirk that sends me back into time and like a movie, everything that has happened plays through my head. Shutting my eyes not wanting to see it, unable to stop myself from seeing it, I cry, hard. Like I've never cried before.

At that moment, it suddenly got quiet on the other side. "Who interfers my call?" Lucian's voice suddenly came through. "We don't know, maybe we accidentally connect it to..." There was a sound of footsteps on the other side, and soon the background restored quiet. As I made another call, Lucian answered at once and there came his gentle tone, "What's wrong with my dear Luna? Can't you fall asleep for the thunder?" "I am in a pack council meeting and will come back soon to accompany you and the pup, ok?"

She continued to explain how ANTI was so dangerous that it was literally impossible to fight them because they had special devices that could kill even the most powerful Supernaturals. “Well, let's assume they can't be fought, how on Earth will they know if someone is a Supernatural? It's not like it's written on our forehead or that we can't pass as humans.” She laughed and shook her head, genuinely surprised that I was so ignorant. “We are talking about an agency that has billions at its disposal and the full backing of multiple governments...they are capable of doing the impossible.”
