One Step Closer
After my wounds were taken care of, I put on a large white T-shirt with a length that reached the mid-thighs.
Carmen brought me some food from the kitchen, and then took me to the guest room.
“You can live here in peace from now on.” She hugged me gently.
Before she left, she told me, “But, remember that you must never enter the room on the left. Understood?”
I nodded without any intention to understand the reason behind it. After she had left, I bolted the bread.
I had been hungry for too longthat I could not eat much. Although the bread would not keep me full, it was just right for my stomach.
