Marked by fate
Sad.
Everything makes me feel sad lately. Or numb. Like I’m moving through this grey, muted version of my life where nothing really lands. The only time I feel anything sharp or real is when Zahra’s around. The other day, when she came to visit us, it was like my emotions flicked back on. Like colour rushed back into the world after years of static.
Now it’s gone again.
Lex whines softly.
‘We’ll find our mate soon, buddy,’ I tell him, even though there’s no conviction in the words. He knows it. I know it. The lie just hangs there between us, thin and useless.
