The Queen's Heir
As they climbed, the air grew thinner and cooler, but somehow more alive – filled with the presence of ancient things, of rock and water and sky that had existed long before gods or mortals walked the earth.
At the top of the path, they emerged onto a small plateau overlooking the entire valley. Here, there were no marble columns or golden statues – only a circle of smooth stones arranged in a spiral pattern, and in the center, a single olive tree growing from a crack in the rock. It was small and gnarled, its trunk twisted by wind and time, but it stood strong and proud against the vastness of the sky.
