Out In Space Novels & Stories

“Alright. I’ll trust you on this one.” Yuji gave me a faint smile before walking to IV’s room. When we reached it, the guards opened the door for us once again. It was immediately closed as soon as we entered the room. The room is spacious yet there aren’t many things placed here. There is just a big table in the middle, two couches facing each other, plus the bookshelves on the corner. What welcomes us is the back of a man facing the window near his table. My black heels made some noise which is the reason why he faced us.

The loud, wild sound of the quantum reactor was gone. Now there was only the steady hum of their small transport vessel moving quietly across the Pacific Ocean. Inside the dark, quiet cabin, Eva, Lucian, Marcus, and the rest of the team sat close together. They were tired, bruised, and covered in dust but they were alive.

There just weren't a lot of ways to get away from someone on a small ship in the middle of space. Over the next half an hour the debris thinned until Icaan could lift back up, then re-engage the autopilot and finally sit back. "Should be plain sailing for the rest of the day. Then early tomorrow we'll hit the edge of patrolled Frentin space around the cluster of planets the market sits between." "The market isn't a planet?"

He had just swallowed the last morsel, and washed it down with tepid water, when things started to change. Contacts closed, motors whined, and hatches slid up and out of the way. New air flowed into the compartment. It was cold, like space itself, and tinged with ozone. There were sounds. Metal creaked in response to a radical change in temperature, a motor whined out beyond the hatch, and something made a ratcheting noise. Cautiously, with the duffel bag dangling from his left hand, the space armor slung over his back, and the flechette thrower in his right, the prospector emerged from his cell.

My companions are now entombed forever in the vastness of space. I sink down next to Judah, trying to erase the turmoil in my mind. All of them lost, the only comfort being that Winston, Abraham, Herc, and Julius have died without ever waking up. No knowledge, no pain, except for Beth. I lean over, and Judah places his arm around me. His masculine scent has a calming effect. “We’re going to get through this,” he says, his voice choking. “Sure,” I answer, not sure at all, though I can see through the visual screen that the space ahead is clear of debris. Ingoran and Ashmor are absorbed with the monitors. “At least we’re out of the storm,” I say.

Alexis's POV The whole universe is working against me leaving New York. I was supposed to leave 2 days ago but guess what all flights in and out of New York were grounded due to a huge storm. I'm with Phoebe and Luke in Phoebe's apartment hanging out. "I can't wait to leave!" Phoebe exclaims smacking Luke's arm as he takes a fry off her plate. "Yeah right, so you can go back to your boring life." Luke says and she smacks him again. They fight every single day but they are also each other's favorite, I don't have any siblings so it's so good to witness.

In fact, they seemed to get along a little bit and even agreed on a few things in the game. "I think I'm going to go back to the hotel and sleep. I'm exhausted and we have an early flight." "Boo, let's go out," Kennedy said. "I'm good. I want a long hot shower and some sleep." "Boys, you up for going out tonight?" She asked them but looked directly at Konner. "I could go have a drink." "I will make sure Finley gets back to the hotel. It would look bad for our contract if she showed up at the hotel alone and I went out," Colt said and Konner seemed to buy it easily and just nodded his head. We all got up and went our separate ways.

The cool metal against my skin made me shiver with fresh lust. “Today we move to zero gravity,” he said, voice low and calm. “The chamber will float you in open space while the system fucks you from every direction. No floor. No walls to push against. Just your body and whatever the colony wants to do to it.” My heart raced. I followed him through longer hallways until we reached a tall cylindrical room. The walls were clear glass showing the bright ocean and floating platforms outside. In the center was an open space with no furniture, only glowing rings floating in the air. Soft blue light filled the room.

The Jovian Bridge shimmered like a ghost-ribbon across the black, but as the Respiration approached the drifting fleet of the Outriders, the beauty of the "Third Genesis" felt dangerously fragile. The Outrider vessels were monstrosities of survival—pitted hulls made of scavenged moon-rock and necrotic Sterling circuitry, held together by glowing orange seams of raw, unstable energy. They didn't glide; they limped through the vacuum, bleeding radiation and desperation.
