BETRAYED BY HER BLOOD, CLAIMED BY THE NIGHT
(NOMO HOLT’S POINT OF VIEW)
The Star-Jumper dropped out of warp over the third moon of Caelum. Nomo checked the sensors, his fingers moving with a relaxed, practiced grace. Below them, the moon was a marble of swirling azure and indigo—the Blue Sand Moon. There were no cities here, no high-sector towers, and no ancient debts. Just a vast, empty wilderness under a sky that held three different suns.
"We’re here, Sofia," Nomo said, his voice quiet.
Sofia came up behind him, her chin resting on his shoulder as they looked out the cockpit glass. The blue dunes shifted in the light of the rising suns, looking like frozen waves of a sapphire sea.
