It was her favorite n***l and when she finally found it, she couldn't stop the tears that were rushing down her cheeks. The last time she opened that book was about eight years ago. Before the love of her life died.

And why does it say daughters inherit it? Before she could turn the page again, the lamp on the desk flickered. The storm outside groaned like a beast. Then, clear as glass, a voice whispered: “The pact is not finished.” Olivia’s blood froze. She spun in the chair. The room was empty. The curtains swayed slightly, though the windows were shut. Her throat tightened. “Mom?” she said in a broken voice. No answer came. Only the thunder rolling over the house. Later that night, Olivia sat on her bed with the book still in her lap. Sleep would not come. She kept reading the entries, forcing herself to understand what she was holding.

She felt as if she were outside of herself, looking down, and she became more and more confused. She read. And read. And read. Finally, it hit her like a lightning bolt: this book, it was hers. Her journal. The journal of a teenage girl. A story of coming of age. Of going back in time. Of falling in love with a man named Caleb. Of having a daughter named Scarlet. Of becoming a vampire. She wondered if she were losing her mind. Was this some sort of practical joke? Some sort of fantasy she’d had as a young girl? What was it doing here? How did her grandmother have it? And why was she only drawn to open it now, at this time?

Alexander was so perplexed by Olivia’s behavior. Since her mother died last year she was acting out terribly. “My darling Janet, how I miss you. How am I going to do this without you. Olivia needs you to show her how to become the lady of Isles.” Alexander thought sadly. He lowering his head for moment in thought of his Bonnie wife . Her beautiful brown hair framing her sweet feminine features. Blue eyes that look like the deepest ocean. When she smiled her dimples would show her gentleness. Her frame while not being thin was not heavy either. She had a perfectly rounded figure. She cared herself with a confidence that was beyond her years.

I lay my head on Xavier chest , while he slowly ran his fingers through my hair – this moment felt so peaceful and so right , yet the events that had to occur to get to this perfect moment left a guilty feeling in my chest. “Where do we go from here?” I break the silence. Every one stays silent , only the crackle of the fire is audioable. “I think we should keep travelling North ; Alexander conquers most of the South so I am pretty sure we can find some refuge up North” Andrew says , making us all agree that is a good idea. “Britney , did you not say you have some relatives up North?” I ask her recalling the conversation we had a few times before. She nods and smiles.

I try again to mind link him with no answer. I hear footsteps down the hall coming towards my door. I quickly stand as tall as possible, which is hard because I am so tired and my legs barely hold me up anymore. I have to though; I refuse to show him any sign of weakness. The door opens and in walks Shane, his signature smirk and a rose.
