My wolf paced inside me, a low growl of anticipation, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice. We crept through the dense woods surrounding HornSide, the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves filling my nostrils. The deeper we went, the more the air changed. The metallic tang I’d noticed earlier grew stronger, accompanied by a faint, persistent hum. It was the outlanders’ camp, visible now as a distant sprawl of unnatural lights against the dark horizon.

I counted ten heartbeats before continuing, "Your grandchild." I hated that I was incapable of doing anything for her especially now that she needed me the most. My heart was heavy with sorrow at my helplessness. In two days my best trackers were set to infiltrate the Outlanders Camp to scout the land for the child. Once they locate the child, Ian and his warriors will launch an attack on the Outlanders. It was easy for werewolves to sort out a person from their smell and Hunter being the Alpha's pup made finding him less challenging.

- You guys, hold her, make her look up. The two men who had been holding Daisy, once more time come forward to her, following the army general's orders. The young man sitting next to the army general says: - You see, Scorpion Country people have dark skin, black pupils, and black hair. She has light skin, auburn hair, and amber pupils. -The Scorpion Country army is inherently evil. It is possible if they train a secret agent from another tribe to sneak into our army.

Screams and shrieked erupted through the underground city but no one, except them, was able to hear it. "It's showtime!" Jordan roared as the whole group chorused with a synchronized "aye". They quickly jumped towards the city with scorching fire beneath it. Not even caring that they were landing on the ground with 10 feet distance. The Black Wolf's Clan were already used to this kind of stunt. They were just like to hear scream in the air and they effortlessly landed on the ground as they maneuver their footsteps and balance to land easily, avoiding the fire and the debris of the bomb explosion.

I relaxed on the porch and enjoyed the cabin’s natural surroundings for an easy hour after watching Kenzie adjust her backpack as she hiked off into the woods to begin tagging duty. She was right about the weather. I’d shed my sweater almost immediately upon returning from using the outhouse. Sitting on the porch while reveling in the sensation of the faint warm breeze that caressed my flesh and feeling the heat of the morning sun on my face as it climbed higher over the treetops was so fantastic that I’d actually forgotten about Oscar and Noah’s outrageous werewolf claims.

I only continue my exploration when everything is in order with my bladder. I push the door ajar with the tip of my boot, cursing the aged wood for opening with a growing squeak. Hunter for what he is doing and raises the instrument in his hands, in a reflection of fright. It is a large and heavy sledgehammer, whose black handle is surrounded by the strong fingers of both his hands.

Amid the crisp sound of glasses colliding, I took a sip of the cold beer. The chill slid down my throat, but somehow, it warmed my heart. The road ahead was long, yet there was no reason to look back. Somewhere out there, beyond the horizon, an open wilderness was still waiting for me.

Somewhere far from the House of the Wolves, past the continent and to a foreign land, stood a tall man surrounded by curious women, all speaking a foreign language. Clad in his traveler coat and boots, he reached the hidden society of the witches. Just like his pack, the witches’ coven is hidden and protected by the rainforest, where vicious hurricanes and storms brew and keep outsiders—like him—away.

I clutched the phone, my voice betraying nothing when I finally spoke. Her voice cracked. "Say something! Where are you? Mama will send someone to get you." My tone was flat. "Don't bother. I'm in Europe. I won't be returning to the manor anytime soon." There was silence on the other end for a few seconds, followed by a gasp of disbelief. "What do you mean? You flew across the Atlantic by yourself? Are you insane? A young woman alone, without protection..."
