“Look, if we knew we had to knock before coming in, we would've sent a smoke signal or something…”
I elbowed Icarus in the ribs. He let out a muffled “ow,” while Max exhaled sharply in frustration.
The man, clearly the leader didn’t laugh. But he wasn’t fazed, either. His eyes now turned to Max, studying him.
“But not all of you are outsiders… are you?”
Max straightened, chest rising.
I raised my eyebrows, sensing something off and catching a whiff of plot.
