I don't understand what I'm looking at or why Hunter is showing me this. I tap on the first photo. It's Xavier. He's sitting at an outdoor café, the kind of trendy place he likes to go for business lunches. But he's not alone. There's a woman sitting across from him, a beautiful blonde in a red dress. She's laughing at something, and Xavier is leaning forward, holding her hand across the table. My heart starts to pound. I swipe to the next photo. Xavier kissing the same blonde woman outside what looks like a restaurant. His hand is on her waist, pulling her close. The kiss is deep, passionate, nothing like the casual pecks he gives me when he leaves for work.

She glanced back down at the leather-bound book resting on the floorboards beside her. The empty pages seemed to stare up at her, daring her to turn them. With a trembling hand, she picked it up again, the leather warm against her palm. She knew she should get up, should finish unpacking, should do something practical, anything to distract herself from the throbbing between her legs. But she couldn't. She was hooked. The anonymous writer had become a guide, a seductress whispering secrets into her ear, and Pinky was a willing student, desperate to learn every lesson.

I get a quizzical look from about half of them. Penelope goes up to X and snuggles under his arm.

I drew a simple, messy heart with two zeros inside it. "Volume Four," Xander said, standing beside me, his arm around my waist. "Volume Four," I agreed. Beyond the ruins, the world was vast, broken, and completely ours. The billionaire romance was dead. The Sovereign and the Banker were ghosts. I tried, but after reading the same paragraph six times, I looked up to see Xander walk out of the bathroom and into his closet to get dressed. I stood up, put my book away, and waited for him to finish.

Zane followed, groaning as he shot across my thigh. They didn’t let me breathe. Jax flipped me onto all fours on the bench with my ass up, face down. Cold leather against my cheek.
