I close the door quietly. I spend an hour in the smaller library looking at the books. He has everything. Fiction. Nonfiction. Art books. History. A whole shelf of poetry that looks like it has never been touched. I pull out a volume of Mary Oliver and flip through it. Someone has dog-eared a page. I read the poem. "Wild Geese." I read it twice.

Outside, the wind picks up, rattling the stained-glass transom window that casts blue and purple shadows across the worn floorboards. The bookstore occupies the entire first floor shelves crammed with everything from bestsellers to obscure poetry collections. The second floor is my apartment, and the third... well, the third floor has been locked for as long as I can remember. My parents' private domain, and now just another space filled with questions they took to their graves. "Morning, Oscar," I say to the fat orange tabby curled on the checkout counter. He yawns in response, stretching luxuriously before settling back into his self-appointed position as store guardian.

We found 'Whispers of Time,' a quaint bookstore tucked away in a corner, its shelves filled with weathered tomes and ancient manuscripts. Just novels and poetry and a cookbook.

Which included the backpack Xaden had gotten for me. There were also journals, notebooks, pencils, erasers, and oddly enough, art supplies. I didn’t even know art was a class that could be taken here. There were also small ‘emergency wands’, first aid kits, fur coat shine, claw buffers, crystal balls, and tons of different charms,

When she approached the owl, she could see his body was flinching in surprise, as if he didn’t want her to come any closer than she was now. “Yes, can you find me a book about the creatures that live in the Forest of Wonders?” She kept a safe distance. A frown formed on the owl man’s furry face, but in the end he agreed and wandered around the tens of thousands of shelves after asking her to wait on the sofa. However, she refused to sit back and followed the librarian while looking at the books. This time, she only looked it from a far without daring to touch the books, which were almost all dark. She didn’t want to go through the same thing again.

I just keep smiling. I walk out of the store with the triplets as Gia, Olivia, and Lux stay in the store. I look around at all the stores, when my eyes catch on a small one in the corner. A bookstore. I start walking towards it, while the triplets follow me. As soon as we enter, the owner looks up and smiles at us. “Is there anything I can help you find?” He asks, and I purse my lips, not sure if I should ask about the golden wolf to a stranger.
