“My presence here, Alpha Sterling, is for the spring Alphas’ Council. Under the Old Law of the Northern packs, I hold the right by sole ownership of the Sterling Pack’s outstanding debt to address the gathered Alpha families.”
A pause settled between us.
“I will present my position Thursday morning.”
Caelum’s eyes moved from the briefcase to my face. Then to the pearls at my neck. Then back again, slower this time, as if confirming something he had already known would arrive.
“Ariadne,” he said again, lower now, almost stripped of breath.
“Yes, Alpha Sterling.”
“You own my pack.”
My chin lifted slightly.
“Yes, Alpha Sterling.”
A pause stretched out.
“Every credit of it.”
