Pages In A Novel Novels & Stories

I opened the remaining pages but they also had no contents. "What is the use of these pages if there is no written word even just a single one?" I was irritated. This prompted me to open the second page; it was practically empty, just like the first. I continued opening until the fifth page because I was counting the number of pages as I flipped

Ed observed Ruby selecting a novel yesterday. "Yes, I like thick ones. They last longer, but that also depends on the storyline. The excitement of the story determines its duration. I once finished a book over a thousand pages long in three days because it was thrilling, but there's one very thin book I still haven't finished because it's boring. I always fall asleep while reading it." Ruby explained it at length, forgetting her intention to be cautious. I hope you're not a romance freak" I tried to change the subject. She chuckled. "I wouldn't call it romance. The characters lack the drive and the very essence of the book is negligible. The writer seemed to have made sex the only purpose of the characters and even at that, the scenes are very disappointing. I wouldn't even call it erotica".

The first draft of the book was finished six weeks later. She printed it — all of it, three hundred and twelve pages — and set it on the library table and looked at it for a long time. It was the longest thing she had written. The most complicated. The one that had required her to be inside the story and outside it simultaneously, which was the hardest balance she knew. Forty-six. The pages hadn't fallen out. They had been cut out. Cleanly. Almost professionally. I ran my fingertips lightly along the inner binding. There was no mistaking it. Several sheets had once been there. Now... They weren't. I sat back slowly. Perhaps... It had simply been damaged. Books this old were bound to lose pages eventually.
