Because this was bigger than politics. This was physics. Divine physics. That night, Lily locked herself in the highest tower. Alone. She needed silence. Needed to feel it without anyone watching. Lily couldn't help but look at Elias in surprise. He quickly explained: "Do you see those yellow flowers?" Lily nodded, and Elias continued to explain: "It's a carnivorous flower. If you touch it lightly, it can eat a piece of your flesh." Lily took a few steps back in fear. Venn looked at Lily's expression and laughed. Lily didn't understand why the two of them were laughing, but feeling like she was being tricked, she turned around angrily and walked forward.

They spoke softly, careful not to overwhelm me, explaining every detail as we went. “This table is for unmated wolves,” one said. “These lanterns will be lit once the moon rises,” another added. I nodded, listening, learning, absorbing everything. My feet ached. My back protested. But I refused to sit. I wanted this to be perfect. Immaculate white lilies occupied the wide hollow space and Sreya admired the soft petals, inhaling the fragrance that caressed her nose as she walked round slowly. Letting her left hand drag, her fingertips brushed the surfaces of the draping buds, pausing when her sharp brown eyes caught something like a card stashed between the lilies. Almost like they didn't want her to find it.

The scent filled the room, filling her lungs with every breath. “Uhh…woah, who are these from?” Lily asked appearing at the doorway, She walked to the basket closest to mum, plucked a small white card from the basket, and opened it. “You might not be able to run through these, but they smell lovely all the same, love.” She read aloud, “love who?”

Long mahogany tables were decorated with crystal glassware, white lilies, and silver candles. During the reception, five-year-old Lily and her mother, Hannah, walked up to the head table. Lily was wearing a bright yellow dress, holding a hand-drawn picture of Vivian with a golden heart. "Dr. Vivian!" Lily cheered, holding up the drawing. "I brought you a gift!" Vivian leaned down, hugging the little girl tightly as Hannah wiped away tears of gratitude. "Thank you, sweet Lily. This is the most beautiful gift in the world."

Immediately her scent, that of the flower she was named after, flooded my nose, making me feel like I was in her presence. I clutched the paper, wishing I could send her an embrace through the mail.
