My eyes traced the ceiling above, but my thoughts were far away, slipping through the cracks of the day’s events.
I was not able to shake off the feeling that something was off. Patricia, there was something about her. A nagging suspicion that I could not quite place my finger on. She was good at what she did, sure, but there was more to her. Something she is hiding from us.
My thoughts tangled together as my eyelids grew heavier, exhaustion creeping in. Eventually, my body gave in to the pull of sleep, and the last coherent thought I had was about the strange familiarity that Patricia brought with her. Like I had met her before, but where? I don't know.
