The smoke reached me before the flames did. It crawled into my lungs like something alive, thick with burning pine and a rot underneath that had nothing to do with wood or ash. Something darker. Something that made my wolf press itself flat against the inside of my chest and refuse to move. I kept walking anyway. My silver feet pressed silently into the frozen ground as our small group pushed deeper into the Shadowpine trees, swallowed by the kind of darkness that felt like it had eyes.

For some reason, I felt like the creek was where I should be, like something in my gut was pulling me there. Once I reached the creek, I stayed in the woods closest to the village. I opened the well-worn pages of my stolen book. The scent of the paper called out to my soul and enveloped me. I had only read a few pages before my eyelids became heavy. I tried to fight against them, but they won. I was slipping into darkness when I caught a wisp of the aroma from earlier. I couldn’t even try to look up for the source before I was completely buried in the darkness, and sleep consumed me.

He turned the doorknob quietly and walked out of the room and he sneaked perfectly well out of the house. Soon, he was on the road leading to the woods. The woods were thick with so many trees and most especially it was dark and hazy. The children were scared of the place and mothers use the place to scare and keep their children in check. Not a place for a ten-year-old boy to be in, but there he was, in the middle of the night, under the moonlight, walking into the woods, fearlessly. He stopped at the entrance of the woods and looked into it, it was dark and he was frightened. He turned around to go back to his house but he just could not. Intrigued, i decided to take the book back to the cabin to show Nikau. When i arrived back at the cabin, i excitedly showed Nikau the book, telling him all about the strange symbols and images that i had seen. Nikau was equally intrigued by the book, but nikau said that he would be leaving to check out on the pack for a few days. He asked me not to join him as he would be travelling in his wolf form. After he left, I settled into my cozy spot by the fireplace in the cabin, I opened the old book I had checked out from the library. The title, "The Lost Village of Ravenswood", immediately caught my attention and I was eager to learn more about this mysterious place.

Now, reading it again with specific terminology made me realize that it was a path of journey for awakening a dormant wolf. She somehow predicted that I would need this information to connect with my true self. My eyes burned with tears, and I wiped them quickly, but tears kept coming.
