My face burned. He reached for the bag beside me and pulled out a brand new pair of white and silver skating boots. They were stunning, clearly custom and expensive. With careful, almost reverent movements, he lifted my right foot and slipped the first boot on, lacing it with steady fingers. His hands on my ankle felt electric. He did the same with the left boot, taking his time, making sure they were perfectly snug. When he finished, he looked up at me, still on one knee.

I’m grinning like mad as I hurry into the room, kneeling to get one of the boxes, I push it open and then soft white tissue to reveal a pair of black low heeled boots. “Awwwn…” I brought them out one after the other, smoothing my finger on the soft shiny leather. How pretty, and kinda edgy. Not my usual style as I was more of a sneaker girl but I loved it. From the length they would likely go up to my calves. I couldn’t wait to try them on. I get the second box wondering what it might be, I’m surprised to see a purse with a long silver chain strap. It was chic and girly and pretty.

Lady Keegan: “Well since you put it like that. I am sure I can play my part well. By the way Alpha, I need $1600.00 for a new pair of Jimmy Choo boots.” Alpha Hollis: “That’s ridiculous! They are boots for Goddess sake. What is so special about boots for them to cost that much?” Lady Keegan: “They are Jimmy Choos, Alpha. I like them and since I am the face to the human world, I need to blend in. And really, that’s just a fraction of the cost for the crystal covered pointy toe pumps that I will be wearing for my Luna ceremony.” Alpha Hollis: “Fine. But you had better play your part convincingly to the Alpha Heir.”

Using the honed psionic powers of her current self, Aki paused the memory of the man’s snow boots to glean any clue as to his identity. The northerner’s boots were different from the white-Slayer tabi boots in that they had been assembled from two distinct pieces: an upper part made of dehaired seal skin and a sole that came up the sides of the foot without any seams, made of bearskin. Present-day Aki guessed that such a design made the boots impervious to snow. She was dazed. She pulled the shoes off and saw that one of the heels was pulled away by force and slanted. It was being held in place by a little nail. Everyone saw it and Stan fixed his gaze on it. Everyone glanced at it and started murmuring. Something isn't right here. Finally Mary Patrick spoke “This shoe is made by Shivana designer and accessories, the leading designer home in England. I personally examined and chose these shoes because she would be descending the stairs in the scene and needed a shoe with a balanced heel.

"We’re leaving the territory." My heart leaped. "Where?" I asked, my face lighting up. I didn't care if it was a funeral; I was getting out. "You’ll see," he said, turning toward the subterranean garage. "Don't keep the engine waiting." I pried open the box and gasped. Inside was a pair of the most exquisite tactical-chic boots I’d ever seen. Tall, obsidian leather, supple as a second skin, with silver buckles that gleamed like moonlight at the ankles.

"Shift once while wearing them and bye bye boots." I give him a small shoulder push to get him moving. Once he's settled, I twist around, bringing my legs up, and begin pulling on the leather. I can tell as soon as my feet slide home that they fit perfectly. "They don't look any different than the military boots I gave you." "Sacrilege." I run my fingers over the leather. "These babies have PVC air-cushioned soles. They're indestructible." King whistles. "One emergency Shadow Warrior shift and you'll discover you shouldn't be too excited about footwear, and when that happens, no footwear is indestructible."

“What do you mean, I have to wear this? I’ve worn nothing like this before. I don’t know if I can walk in these.” Tara held up a pair of high-heeled silver scrappy sandals. “It’s one thing to be a complete shoe or boot with a heel. But these are begging to break my ankle the first crack in the sidewalk I find. Or I’ll miss a stair and end up on my head at the bottom of the stairs.”

"Yeah." The next shoe is stiletto black heels, then a white sneakers, neutral evening heels, and black ankle booties. Pamela packed them all at once and I gasped. Sometimes, she behaves like someone who reads minds. I was just thinking of how to rock the shoes if only I had all of them and she was buying them for me. I blessed her in my heart.

"Is everything alright? I see you found your boots." She rolled her eyes at Dexter, dropping the boots filled with snow to the brim on the porch as she pushed past him. "What's the matter, Taesha? Why are you leaving your boots out on the porch?" "Dexter! I guess your car was too good for my boots?! All you had to do, was tell me you didn't want my boots in your precious car, and I would have held them in my hands on my lap! Those boots cost me a thousand dollars! I don't know about you, but I work hard for my money! How could you do something so mean?!"
