I stepped back, trying not to let it show how every brush of his skin sent sparks shooting through me or how affected I was as he moved near me.
Then, I noticed him—a camper standing nearby with sun-bleached hair and an annoying grin, clearly watching Zelest too closely. Zelest seemed to have noticed him too. I felt irritated when their eyes met, winking at Zelest while staring intently at his arms.
The camper stepped in during a water break. “That was hot,” he said, eyes fixed on Zelest.
“Thanks,” Zelest replied with a smirk, brushing his damp hair back. “You weren’t so bad either during that sprint earlier.”
