“Hey, Peanut,” I tell her, and my voice breaks on the first vowel because I am not made of respectable things. “Miss me?” She squeals and shoves my nose with her palm and a second later another tiny fist thumps my shoulder, Caspian, being polite about reminding me he exists. Mindy laughs.
“He tried to mind-control a teether,” she reports. “The teether won.”
“Good,” I say, deadpan. “We will not be raising a dictator.”
