They both knew it.
"You're not protecting me from a sensor right now," Ariana said, her voice barely a breath. "You're just holding on."
Lucas didn't deny it. Instead, he moved.
He didn't let go of her hand. He used it to pull her toward him, dragging her across the silk sheets until she was inches from his chest. The heat coming off him was a physical force.
"I told you once that I control chaos," he whispered, his voice dropping to a dangerous, gravelly register. He reached up with his free hand, his thumb tracing the line of her lower lip. "But you... you're the only variable I can't solve."
