I’m tempted to pick it up and finish the work, but I don’t know whose it is, and that holds me back. There are many paintings. One shows the boy sitting on the edge of a mountain, laughing freely, an orange butterfly resting delicately on his nose. The painter’s style is incredibly realistic, capturing the lightness of that moment. The largest painting hangs above the lit fireplace in the center of the room. In it, Perseus is older, maybe thirteen, hair tied back in a bun. He’s sitting against a tree, deeply absorbed in a book.

"I wasn't really sure when Hades told me about Greene being a demigod. Does Rick Riordan know that you guys exist? Oh oh, wait, is he a demigod too? Maybe a child of Athena. Percy roared. He ripped the filthy bandage off his arm. The wound underneath was swollen and black with streaks of purple. Pus bubbled through the torn skin. He showed a twisted grin. He dug his fingers into the rotting flesh, tore out a handful of putrid meat, and shoved it into Diana's mouth. "You dare call me filthy? Eat it. Eat it." Diana gagged and retched as he forced the decayed flesh between her teeth. Percy's grin stretched wide in a feral way. He watched the woman he had worshipped sink into terror and humiliation. For the first time, he felt a savage and overpowering sense of triumph.

" I paint vigorously as the song plays. I'm desperately trying to get the image out of my mind onto the canvas. My brush travels across his chiseled jawline. My colors hold his textured blonde color in a lock of hair that hung in his face while the rest was pulled back. My shadows play with the rippled muscles under his shirt. I let the music inspire me as I paint the pale blue eyes staring at me. His tanned skin looks almost like I could reach in and feel it. The image in my mind comes alive in the painting. My painting. "Bastian." I whisper as I add tiny dances of light to his face. "Oh, that's lovely." I whip around and my mom is standing. I huff out a breath. "You scared me." She giggles
