The Vow that Broke the Moon
Nyx had been passing through the lower levels of the fortress, where the ancient stones wept moisture and the air smelled of earth and decay, when she sensed his presence.
"Miss me, little ghost?" His voice was a whisper, barely audible, but it carried through the darkness like a blade.
Nyx forced herself not to scream. Her heart hammered against her ribs, adrenaline flooding her system, but she'd spent her entire life learning to hide her fear. She turned to face him, her expression carefully neutral, her body coiled for fight or flight.
"How did you—" She stopped, shaking her head. "The fortress is on lockdown. No one enters or leaves without the Alpha's authorization."
