Elders are murmuring loudly, Derek and Asher look at her with confusion written all over their faces while Liana looks like she’s going to be sick. “Thea.” Ares whispers in shock. “Child, what does that mean?” Muriel thunders. I’ve found that Muriel has more bark than bite, always raising his voice to try to intimidate those he sees as beneath him. Dorothea doesn’t even flinch at his tone. “It means exactly what you think, Sir. I am the new oracle.” She replies calmly. “Dorothea! What are you saying?” Ares asks, grabbing her shoulder and shaking her lightly. “Watch the words that come out of your daughter’s mouth, General!” An elder screams.

Eryx and Leo were beside me, gasping for air as the Black Ice dissolved into puddles of harmless, silver water. "Mother, where is she?" Leo asked, his silver eyes scanning the mist. Standing a dozen yards away was the Oracle. She was no longer floating. She was on her knees, the scythe lying shattered in the dirt beside her. Her hair was copper again, but her eyes were gone—replaced by two smooth, silver scars. "She paid the price to pull us out," the boy-Jackson’s voice spoke from the mist.

She said his name, her voice breaking sadly. “I just can’t be that mate…” He sighed. “I am so sorry, Kelly.” He proceeded to stand on his feet. Placing his hands in his pockets, he continued, “The Oracle is tomorrow night. You just turned eighteen last week; you’re still young. It’s a great place to find someone.” The Oracle was a ceremony that happened once a year. It was for werewolves to find a mate, but you had to be eighteen and above to attend. Everyone in the pack that could attend always did. Even the alpha of the pack and his Luna.

I stepped forward, my heart pounding in my chest. And then, I saw it. A large, crystal orb that seemed to glow with an otherworldly light. The doppelganger gestured for me to approach the orb. "This is the Oracle," it said. "Here, you will find the answers to all your questions." I reached out a trembling hand, feeling a sense of wonder and awe. What secrets would the Oracle reveal to me? As I touched the crystal orb, I felt a sudden jolt of energy run through my body. The room around me began to spin, and I felt myself being pulled into a vortex of colors and lights.

He looked at it through the rearview mirror and his eyes widened. "How is this possible? He healed so fast. It's like he shifted and had his wolf already. But he's only four years old. That's too soon." I nodded, "I know. It's not normal. Maybe we should take him to see the oracle. He might know something." Blake agreed and we changed our course. We drove to the pack house, where the oracle lived. The Oracle was an old and wise man, who had a connection with the moon goddess. He could see the past, the present, and the future. Or so I was told...

“I’ve heard of her in oral tradition since my birth, like Drust, the famous master of the oaks to the north. Her hair, her figure, I see them in my mind, my heart and soul. I know who she was . . . is.” Porcius wiped his blade clean on the deerskin kilt of the dead Pict. “And is scares your innards all to hades? Wonderful as a dead dog. And you are from here.” Porcius laughed once, but held no humor in his manner. “Wondrous, indeed.” Lucius glared at Porcius with intensity. “Would you ever want to face one of your famous oracles in Greece?” With a reflective nod and a belch, Porcius headed out of the woods. “Ya got me there. I’d stay away from the shadows of those folks for true.”

Kayden says, looking towards Darius, suddenly fearful. I watch the exchange, as I analyze Kayden's response. Why would he be fearful of this? Let alone, what is an Oracle? "What is an Oracle?" I ask, seeming to be the only one in the room that's never heard of this. "Oracles are messengers from the Moon Goddess, however they rarely interact with others. Oracles have the ability to see the future. Due to this ability, the Moon Goddess keeps them away from others. Oracles lead a lonely life, however, they serve a valuable purpose. Theo suddenly stepped forward, moving toward the boundary where Ravencrest waited. "No," Thelma screamed, reaching for him. But Theo was faster. He crossed into neutral ground, standing alone between the wolves and vampires. "I surrender myself," Theo called out. "Take me, leave my sister and the pack alone." Ravencrest smiled, cruel and satisfied. But before he could accept, before anyone could stop what was happening, the Oracle appeared. She materialized between Theo and the vampires like she'd stepped out of thin air. Her blind eyes somehow pinned Ravencrest in place, and ancient power rolled off her in waves that made even the vampire lord pause.

Behind the falls, a narrow cavern entrance beckoned. "This must be it," Lena remarked. "The Oracle's abode." We ventured inside, torches illuminating the damp passageways.
