In the far corner sat our contact, a wiry man in his late fifties with sharp eyes that seemed to miss nothing. He looked up as we approached, his expression guarded. “You must be Lucas and Mandy,” he said, his voice low but steady. “And you’re Peter,” I replied, sliding into the booth across from him. Mandy sat beside me, her posture stiff. Peter’s gaze lingered on her. “You’ve got your father’s eyes.” Mandy flinched, but her voice was firm. “I’m not here to talk about him. I want to know about Horizon Enterprises. What they’re doing now and how we stop them.”

You had some time to think,” he says, and I bite my lower lip.

Now, will you give a reason?” “He looked funny in his glasses, I don’t even know why I suggested that glasses for him but the boy was not ready to wear glasses until I had Spiderman on it. I don’t even think any of his friends likes it, the first thing I will do after I get out of here will be finding another pair of glasses for him. I can’t bear to see my boy looking all weird and funny.” I laughed at this making her roll her eyes at me.

One of them was brown and the other was green, and had a faint scar that ran across his left eye. Despite this, he was beautiful. I had never seen a man that hot before. He had a chiseled jawline and features that could rival those of a Greek god. His five-o’clock beard made him look manly and hotter. He also wore glasses. I had never seen a man in the mafia, let alone a Pakhan wear glasses before. It was odd. His face was impassive and his gaze revealed nothing. He seemed unbothered by everything happening around him.

I blink. “…You wear glasses?” He glances over his shoulder, like it’s the most normal thing in the world. “Sometimes.” I step in a little more, curiosity getting the better of me. “For what?” “Mild astigmatism,” he says, turning back to the stove. “Long hours, screens… makes it worse.” I nod slowly, even though he can’t see me. It’s such a small detail, but it makes him feel human.

Peter turned and wandered back to me, where he transferred our drinks to the plastic tumblers as well. "Thought better of using glass poolside?" I asked, taking my whiskey back. "No, I figured we'd get in too," chuckled Peter, unbuttoning his shirt. I saw both women watching suddenly intently as the shirt came off. Peter might be shorter than me but he did put on quite the gun show. A completely polished and waxed gun show. He started unbuckling his shorts and asked me, "Coming?" "Uh, maybe in a few minutes," I temporized.

I growled, closing my eyes against the pain shotting through my brain and the blare of the sun now that my glasses were on the ground as well. "Sorry about that." Came a deep sultry voice from in front of me, I sniffed the air, recognizing him immediately as a wolf, though not of my pack he surprisingly smelled familiar. "Let me get these for you." Now his voice was from below me. Opening my eyes I gave them a second to adjust to the sunlight then looked down to see a man crouched down in front of me picking my glasses and phone up, as he stood back up, I got a better look at him and did not recognize him. Like no human actually works here,” Peter teased, walking around. His fingers brushed a crystal glass on the shelf. It slipped…crashed…shattered into a hundred pieces on the floor. Peter froze, arms flying up to shield his face on instinct. Enzo’s chair scraped back. “What the hell is wrong with you?!” The shout came out sharper than he meant.

He gave me a ridiculously suggestive smirk. I recoiled, making a face. “Ugh! Never mind! I shouldn’t have asked.” I tossed his phone back to him. Peter chuckled, grabbing his phone and finally looking around the store. His gaze landed on a display of sleek modern watches. “Hey, what about that?” he said, pointing. “I think I saw something about those. They come as a set right? You can connect your phones to them too, track each other’s… you know. It’s kinda… connected. Meaningful maybe? Especially since your man is so possessive. I bet he’d love this.”
