Turning to Xander, I clung to his body, seeking comfort and protection.
“I don’t want to die like this,” I whispered, my voice trembling with fear. His embrace tightened around me, and the memory of our past moments of love flooded our hearts.
“I’m sorry,” the owner of the dog apologized, swiftly grabbing their pet by the collar.
“It’s okay,” Xander replied calmly, his composure unwavering.
“What do you mean, okay? What if your dog has bitten me?”
The woman, dressed in a short jogging outfit, avoided my gaze and looked toward Xander. A smile formed on her face as she passed by. Xander’s eyes followed her momentarily before refocusing on me.
