“Are we free to return? I sense no immediate danger,” the large man who smothered my mouth says, his voice gravelly.
I glance at the other werecoyotes, now in human form. Their postures are rigid, shoulders squared, encircling us like a living wall. Muscles bulge from oversized limbs, their presence so intimidating I wouldn’t be surprised if accidental deaths followed in their wake.
“Your guards are terrifying,” I mouth to Phantom.
“They won’t hurt you.” Phantom steps back, unbuttoning his shirt. He strips it off, tossing it to the ground. His wink is quick, magnetic, before he kneels, flexing his muscles.
