Absurdism is a philosophy which holds that the universe is chaotic and irrational and that any attempt to impose order will ultimately fail. Before Aunty Matilda visited today, I had an argument with Goodness over the phone. It started when I told him that I firmly believed that some people knew too much to the extent that they are unable to accept that they actually know nothing. Goodness said my statement was false. He said when you know too much, you are aware of the infinity you do not know. Hence, the realisation that you know nothing at all.

I can't claim to be a genuine worker in the field but I am a very enthusiastic amateur. The notion of creating some kind of a machine that can think, a conscious computer presumably, collides head on with a genuine and deep philosophical problem. The oldest one in Western philosophy, perhaps. The relationship between the inner world of the mind in which we all live, and the outer world of things and other people which science investigates.

I slept well. Him: "No, philosophy is just a conceptual explanation, that one is not fundamental." Me: "You're confusing me, what the hell do you know?" Him: "One worm asks another: how do you prove that the sea exists?" Him: "I'm a danger?" I suddenly felt like talking to him, clear and clean, no bullshit. Him: "That's right, we can't ask a worm to think a lot, but equally we can't assume that a worm that thinks a lot is sick. Allow for existence different from your own."

Who knows what he would manipulate me to think in here. “You’re crazy,” I hear myself saying. Thought doesn’t react the way I assumed he would, not appearing offended at all. He simply loosens a deep breath, backing up a few steps to one of the stacks of books against the wall, looking at the spines as if they actually exist. I have to remember that nothing around me exists. Thought isn’t someone who I can touch, and feel real sensations. Even if I did, it would be a simulation. A terrifying one, too.
