Novel & Cerita Picture Books About Shapes

She helps me stand up and lets me lean on her arm. “Alright.” I take a deep breath and let her lead me to the elevator. On the way up the mountain, we all share one cool thing that happened to us today. Dre learned a shape with five sides is a pentagon and now it’s his favorite shape. Maya tells us about a wild bunny she met during recess and Andy tells us the names of all the planets he learned in science class. Tyree tells us the baby in his mate’s belly recognized his voice and he can’t wait to meet her a week after the twins’ birthday.

What book is that? Jai leaned over to the front and took the book from the cushion to examine it. It was light and a bit thin. There was a picture in the cover that looked like a forest, and a small boy was in the picture, picking some mushrooms. The title was written in artistic way, like a children book would.

The first pages contained ordinary drawings. Faith. The house. The old fig tree. Then... His expression changed. Bethwel leaned closer. "What is it?" Alex turned the book around. Glen had drawn the northern woods. A square hatch. Six stick figures. One had a hat. Another had unusually large boots. Each figure carried a different symbol instead of a face. Joel smiled. "Children draw differently." Alex nodded. "No." "He wasn't drawing faces." "He was classifying them." He pointed at the figure with the hat.

She lays it on the floor in the middle of our huddle and flicks through the brittle, browning pages. Inside, there are illustrations of creatures. I quickly see Lycans and Werewolves and Humans, as well as Witches and Wizards. But then she stops and shows us a whole picture on a page. It’s the picture of some kind of humanoid form, melting and dripping on the floor. White dead eyes. Shadow surrounding it. Gammie looks at us with a grim expression. “The thing that we are up against is the most dangerous of all. The Shape Shifter.”

Both options felt equally disturbing. I closed the book and slid it back into place. My breathing still refused to cooperate. My feet carried me to another shelf. I needed something that had nothing to do with me or corporate sins. Turned out the next shelf was full of children's books. Picture books about dinosaurs, trucks, cats. A whole series about a little hero with a lion mask. One of Ash's stickers clung crooked on one of the spines. I pulled one out. The first page already looked a little worn. In the corner of the page, there was a small scribble in blue marker. Definitely not Zane's handwriting. Big, wobbly letters.

"We will. But we need to understand what we're protecting." Sophie continues coloring, apparently oblivious to the adults arguing about her intelligence. But Marcus notices something he's missed before. Her coloring book is filled with intricate mathematical patterns. Geometric shapes that interlock with precise symmetry. Equations hidden in what appear to be decorative borders. "Sophie, what are you drawing?" "Just pictures." "Can you show me?" She holds up a page that looks like abstract art to most people. But Marcus recognizes the underlying structure. "Aria, look at this."

“Yes, ma’am.” As she moves toward the flat-screen across the room, I return to the suitcase, pulling out one of Liam’s sketchbooks. The cover is bent, the corners smudged with fingerprints, but inside? Dinosaurs. Rainbows. One drawing of a house with three stick figures: one tall, one medium, one small. He’d labeled them—Mommy, Liam, and Daddy Knoxx. I press the sketchbook to my chest and try not to cry. The TV clicks on.
