The Exiled Princess

The Exiled Princess

But it proved difficult when every person we passed froze mid movement, eyes wide, mouths parted, whispers trailing behind us like startled shadows. We stepped outside into the main grounds of the village. I stopped instantly. People filled every corner. Laughing. Smiling. Carrying trays of dough shaped like stars and miniature gingerbread people. Wolves in human form bustled about with boxes of ornaments, stringing lights upon every tree in sight. Tinsel shimmered beneath the winter sun. Children raced past with cookies shaped like animals and half bitten already. More lights draped the rooftops. There were bells hanging from the porch beams. Actual bells. Ringing as if possessed with joy.

His Captive Mate

His Captive Mate

George sighs, “I’m going to get you in that competition, even if I have to make a bet with Ewan on you winning.” Celine smirks at him, “Make sure it’s a good amount. This is going to be a piece of cake.” Then in a silly voice, “Climb, climb, as fast as you can. You can’t catch me; I’m the gingerbread man.” The car explodes with laughter as Nate pulls up and parks. Sammy rubs her hands together in glee,

Lawfully Wedded Nanny (BWWM)

She unpacked her tote bag, setting out a small tin of cookies, a travel mug of tea, and a worn copy of Anne of Green Gables. “Read it to my class every fall,” she said to no one in particular. “Even the boys liked it, though they pretended not to.” When no one responded, she simply opened the book and began to read aloud. Her voice was smooth and soft, like old velvet. Carter crept closer. Meredith didn’t look up, but she stopped scrolling. Later that evening, Richard returned home to the smell of apple slices baking in cinnamon and sugar. He paused in the foyer, confused.

Meet-Cute Me Under the Mistletoe

Meet-Cute Me Under the Mistletoe

“I’ll take a few of your best cookies to support your cause.” The man smiled and gathered a few, explaining that the shortbread and gingerbread were particularly popular this time of year. “And I’ll toss in a free classic Kris Kringle sugar cookie just for you.” I paid and thanked him for the trouble. As I turned to leave, I spotted an older couple coming out from the back room. I nodded to them and said thank you and Merry Christmas. They smiled and waved as I turned to leave.

No one was around but I spotted Anya walking in from the back door. Perfect! "Good morning, Anya!" I waved at her. she gave me a beaming smile as she approached me. "Merry Christmas," she hugged me and I returned it. "Merry Christmas to you too," I said and we giggled. She was still wearing her Christmas hat. "Let's make the ginger breads and proceed to making breakfast," she suggested and I nodded. "Alexei's cake?" I asked. "We shall do that in between. Let's not waste much time and let's be as quiet as possible," she said and I nodded.

“Sure, I’ll read it. But then we eat breakfast, okay?” “Okay,” Bella said, wiggling sideways to press into my side. My smile broadened, and I flipped to the front of the book. “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” I began. “In the light of the moon a little egg laid on a leaf…” A I B , I took her downstairs to get breakfast ready. As I rounded the bottom of the steps, I realized there was someone sitting at the table and startled so violently I almost dropped Bella.

Lust & Fangs: Steamy Vampire Erotic Short Stories

The following house appeared to have a man doing the handout duties, so Gabby eagerly waited for the children to leave before making her appearance. "Trick or Treat!" Gabby shouted as the door opened. She threw the cloak open in one swift motion, leaving the man at this house dumfounded at how to respond. "Uhh, chocolate or peanut butter?" the man said, dazed. "Chocolate!" Gabby exclaimed. The man handed her a chocolate candy bar and Gabby grabbed it and ran off into the night.

“Not today!” The man smirked. “But I don’t have any money to buy cigarettes today…” “Zephyr, put me down!” No matter how she struggled, the man remained unfazed and was going to carry her into the room with a smirk. “No! Ginger, save me!” Ginger looked up slowly with a squint and dug its head back into its bowl. “The fella’s sharp!” Zephyr was delighted. “It’s sensible at critical moments, haha…” At the same time, the doorbell sounded hurriedly.

I've only read two books on this app. This is the second and by far the best one. The storylines are fluid, the characters are endowed with personality and most importantly the writer makes them come together seamlessly. Ideally, this is what the experience should be, uncomplicated and enjoyable.

I like the story. However, the cost is high for books on here and they are never ending. Not that the chapters are long, but it is almost the same outlying as the other books from this author. Sometimes it takes a moment to see what characters they have actively engaged in that chapter.

Lustful Desire

Lustful Desire

Another day, we could craft a gingerbread house fit for a fairy tale, complete with a candy cane chimney and gumdrop windows. Even cleaning up wouldn't be a chore. It would be a shared experience, filled with silly songs and exaggerated flour fights that would leave us both in fits of giggles. And at the end of the day, exhausted but happy, we'd collapse onto the couch, munching on warm cookies and losing ourselves in a storybook filled with talking animals and magical lands.

The Cruel Millionaire's Surrogate

The Cruel Millionaire's Surrogate

I was mildly impressed when she screwed the lid off the chocolate milk and began chugging it like a frat boy downing a beer. “Mama!” Nori shouted from below. She slapped her mother’s leg repeatedly, trying to get her attention. “Mama! Coo coo.” Simone shoved a soft-baked gingerbread in Nori’s direction without missing a beat. Nori’s fingers nearly grasped the cookie when Simone snatched it back, causing Nori to cry out in frustration and flop onto the floor. “Nori Rene, you have three seconds to get off that floor. I’m trying to help you out. See. You have to break the gingerbread man’s legs off first so he doesn’t run away. Here.”

The Grinch's heart growing three sizes is such a powerful visual in the book. Any video that rushes past that page is doing it wrong. Look for a reader who pauses there, lets the image sink in. The pacing matters as much as the voice.
