She had long, black hair and bright green eyes like Ambrose. She was looking away from the camera when the picture was taken.

But it was already too late. From the gray waters rose a figure—skin pale as moonlight, hair streaming like black ribbons in the tide, eyes glowing faintly green. Its hands were long and webbed, its teeth sharp when it smiled. With sudden strength, it leapt, seizing the entranced sylph. The male sylph’s lips curved in a blissful smile, as if offering himself willingly.
