I walked into the inner part of the book shop and excused myself after I belched. “This one is Six Thousand Naira”. “If you interrupt mw again, you won’t like what I’ll do to you…” The shopkeeper saw my countenance and left me alone, before going to fetch cellophane bag. He picked up the 2009 Guinness Book of World Records and bagged it, and waited patiently for me to pick another book. I soon picked The Family by Mario Puzo and Carol Gino. I was handing the novel to the shopkeeper, who was already with a calculator, when I saw it. It was a dark hardcover book, with pink and dark designs. I smiled broadly and extracted it from the shelf with both hands.

"Hello, I'm Sapphire and I love your books," "My books?" Apple asked, baffled. Her face brightened. "Oh! My book! Little Red told me that you loved my books so I made sure to sign all the books I gave to her to pass over to you. If only I knew you were my sugar queen, I would have come to see you a long time ago!" She chirped with excitement, clasping our hands together. "What's your favourite book?" "Apple Sweetmint, that's my favourite," the story about her. Who would have thought the person in the story was the writer? "Next to Princess Berry and the gingerbread guard. That story was a bomb!!!"

I love the city, but there's something to be said for the small-town atmosphere. He describes a small town and the cute short road named Main Street where the shops are located, and my mind fills with images. I can't imagine only having to walk a few feet to see every single store in town. San Francisco has a shopping district in every neighborhood. But as he talks longer about Pelican Bay and how much he enjoys the people and the town, my ideas of the East Coast change. The small plot of land becomes a quaint little town full of people who get along. Even the town gossip, Pearl, comes out as a sweet little grandma who makes cookies in her free time.

My attention is caught by a history book. I pick it up and head to the bedroom. I sit before the window before opening the book before me. The book is quite old, just like the information it promises to feed me.

She was doing her favorite teasing gesture, pulling and tugging at my shirt, then pressing her hand against me to 'flatten' the pull.
