I laced my fingers with hers, “Promise me Gracey, you’ll never forget that.”
She pressed her lips together, closing her eyes for a singular moment before opening them, the forest of green, fighting for life, nature’s greatest colours swirling in irises that had already witnessed too much pain, “Ok, I promise,”
I held out my pinky, “Pinky promise?”
She laughed lightly taking her pink and wrapping it tightly around my own, “Pinky promise.”
She looked tired, drowsiness over taking her.
“I think someone needs a little sleep, sweet dreams Gracey.”
